"El Bufo, The Toad-5MEO-DMT"

El Bufo is dedicated to a sacred animal medicine, the secretion of the Sonoran Desert toad, whose smoke carries the most powerful psychedelic known to humankind. To take it is to have a close encounter with death itself, the heart and breath pausing for a few seconds as one arrives at the very gates of transcendence, and then returns. In this painting, the toad sends forth two strands of DNA that touch the woman's body and split again into a doubled elixir, twice over, marking an evolutionary awakening that unfolds within the experience. In this state she speaks with the spirit world, which reaches her from two directions at once, rising from the smoke and descending from another dimension. To the left, sperm-like forms ascend and become spirit, the seeding of new consciousness. The animals gathered here are potent guardians. The serpent sheds its skin, teaching the release of the past. The jaguar lends the courage it takes to confront one's own death and to walk through it. Together they hold the space for a soul crossing the threshold between worlds and returning transformed.
